I grew up in a small southern town along the Mississippi River. In the birth order of six children, I was number five. We did not have much in the way of material possessions, but we had an abundance of love. This love has helped our family overcome many trials in our lives.

Reba and David Bailes celebrating 50 years of marriage.

I married my life partner at a young age and spent twenty years as a navy wife. This sudden and drastic change in my life taught me many vital lessons. Most importantly, my desperate need for an abiding relationship with my Savior first and foremost.

My heart’s desire was to have a large family. The Lord filled that desire when physical odds were against me. My husband and I were blessed with three children that resulted in a total of eleven grandchildren.

Soon after retiring from military life the Lord led me into the healthcare field. Specifically massage therapy. That decision did not come easy, but it was a huge step in discovering that His will is always better than mine. Twenty years later I retired from my massage practice. Then I soon discovered the Lord had another unexpected adventure awaiting.

Now here I am with my husband, David, Howie our Wonder Dog, and launching the publication of my second book, “Blue Skies, Butterflies, & Battlegrounds”.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

  1. I’ve known Reba since my childhood and my cousin, David, brought her into our lives. You know there are those special people who just exude goodness? Reba is one of those most beautiful, loving and kind people. As I’ve read her poetry sometimes my heart breaks. For we aren’t often aware of another’s sadness or pain. To know Reba is to know grace and beauty. Her words are her own. Heartfelt and true. I admire her desire to serve out God even when she feels ill equipped or unworthy. I love this woman and am blessed to call her friend. Family.
